ExpiredNature Based Activities for Infants and Toddlers (Online)

Workshop Description:

This online workshop (through Zoom) will focus on a brief definition of nature-based programming, from outlining the benefits of caring for infants and/or toddlers outdoors, building confidence to get outside on a daily basis, and introducing examples of activities that can be incorporated into your program right away. Come prepared to share your experiences, hear others’ experiences, and engage in discussion about how to engage with nature in safe, comfortable and meaningful ways with infants and/or toddlers.  Once you discover that you only need the simplest of resources…you, the children you care for and nature, you may never go indoors again!

Bio:

Alix Wilson has been working in the Early Years field for over a decade, starting with a nature-based program that she ran out of her home for 5 years and having the great honour to build Hand-In-Hand Nature Education with Jarrett Krentzel in 2015. In 2017 she participated in the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada’s Forest Practitioner’s Course, and have been fortunate to build many programs for Hand-In-Hand since, including our child and caregiver class for our youngest forest friends. She is an instructor in the ECCE program at North Island College, and deeply involved in the ECE community including Assistant Director and Program Coordinator for Hand-In-Hand, a member of the Comox Valley Early Years Collaborative and part of the Peer Mentoring project. She is grateful to live, work and play on the traditional and unceded lands of the K’ómoks First Nation.
