Workshop Description:

Most parenting and professional approaches to challenging behaviors do not recognize brain development and the power of relationships. Instead, interventions often target presenting behaviors for change. Trying differently means to expand our range of options and move from punishing behaviors to understanding them, and to changing the environment and our expectations of the children/youth. This workshop is designed to help professionals and parents shift from changing the child’s behavior to reframing perceptions, changing the way they respond to the behavior and developing appropriate and effective support strategies.  We will also explore the key role of relationship in addressing challenging behavior.
