Emergency Preparedness for Child Care Providers

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This workshop will introduce tips and tools for planning, preparing and responding to critical incidents and emergencies within individual sites and community. Participants will apply their learning by partaking in a tabletop exercise and scenario that introduces Shelter in Place and Psychological First Aid.
BIO: Carolyn is President of Strategic Business Risks International Inc. (SBRI), who deliver customized emergency management planning and education. She assists companies and communities to build and maintain psychologically safe and healthy workplaces. Carolyn has supported several communities and groups, provincially, nationally, and internationally. Support applies to before, during and after critical incidents, public health emergencies and disasters. Training includes skill building techniques to help community members apply their learning to enhance capacity while building resiliency.
She has been an instructor at the Justice Institute of BC for 25 years and is presently instructing in the Emergency Management Division as well as the Centre for Counselling and Community Safety | School of Health, Community and Social Justice.
She has over 25 years of professional and practical experience in the areas of emergency management, critical incident stress management, crisis response, and disaster recovery.
