For those interested in pursuing a career in the early childhood field or for early childhood educators and managers of child care facilities, our program offers a variety of training, workshops, resources and support.

For early childhood educators, managers of child care facilities and for those interested in a career in the early childhood field, our program offers workshops on a variety of different topics including child health and well-being, child growth and development, cultural safety and family support.

Our Municipal Consultant provides resources, information and networking opportunities for managers and administrators of licensed group child care centres, and provide assistance if you are interested in opening a licensed group program on the North Shore.

If you are interested in working in the early childhood field, we provide information about this career path and we offer the Responsible Adult course. For employment opportunities, we can connect you with organizations like BC Aboriginal Child Care Society, Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia and Westcoast Childcare Resources.

North Shore Child Care Resource and Referral program is here to help you with all your startup needs. Whether you are looking to start a Licensed Family Child Care (seven children or less), an In-Home Multiage Day Care (eight children), we can provide training, support and assistance to ensure you are prepared to offer safe, quality child care to the North Shore community.

What is the Administrators Network?

The Administrators Network, a partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, is a group of managers and administrators who operate licensed child care facilities on the North Shore. The network meets three times a year to share information about effective operation of child care facilities, to network and to share other learning. To learn more or join, contact us.

Can you provide information about the province’s Early Learning Framework?

Yes, the Early Learning Framework is the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s (MCFD) vision to guide early learning in BC and to inspire educators, families and others working with young children. Please contact us for more information.

Do you have any information on how I can renew my Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E.) certificate?

Yes, our CCRR staff can guide you with the information and resources from the E.C.E. registry. For assistance please contact our CCRR Community Access Consultant.

Is there financial assistance available to help me open a licensed child care center?

Yes, the MCFD offers various grants and early years initiatives you may qualify for. For more information, click here or contact one of our CCRR staff.

Are there any bursaries available to help me pay for my Early Childhood Education course?

Yes, the Early Childhood Educators of British Columbia (ECEBC) offers bursaries to students pursuing their ECE education goals. Click here or contact us for more information.

Is there financial support available to start up a day care?

Yes, you may be eligible for a one-time startup grant. For more information about Licensed Family Child Care, please click here and for Licensed Group Child Care, please click here or contact the CCRR Community Access Consultant (see below).

What kind of assistance do you provide if I want to start a day care?

We provide training for your Responsible Adult Certificate through our Responsible Adult and Family Child Care courses. We can also provide you with guidance about all the minimum standards you need to meet to set up a day care in your home. Do you have any resources to support my home-based day care?
